2D Illustration Process
Hand Dissection-like Line Illustration
For this Masters' project, I was asked to create a line illustration of the anatomy of the hand. I chose to ephasize on the radial artery and the palpation location at the wrist.
After multiple cadaveric observational drawings and anatomical atlas sketches, a pencil sketch (picture on left) was created by layering tissue sketches on top of each other and erasing their overlaping areas.
The final hand sketch was created in Adobe Photoshop using pressure sensitivity pen.
Surgical Instrument
To create a realistic illustration of the McGivney Hemmorhoidal Ligator, multiple studies of the instrument needed to take place.
The first picture shows a study
of the instrument's handles which were made with clay and used in observational preliminary studies to understand perspective.
A storyboard was then created to showcase a step-by-step process to hemorrhoidal ligation.
The final vector illustration was made in Adobe Illustrator.
